2 Weeks Left in Cali...

Good evening,

I had a great day! Despite not sleeping well, I dragged my tired ass to the gym, and forced myself through my "off-ice" program. Afterwards, I went down the mountain with Angela and Ivan (my mountain roomies) and we had a day of shopping. Though I didn't buy anything, it's nice to get off the mountain every now and then (prolonged isolation up here is what we refer to as "mountain fever").

I was looking forward however to getting back up so that I could finish my book. I'm finishing up "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown (The author of The DaVinci Code, which is incredible!!! If you decide to read it, I recommend the illustrated version.) This novel was actually written before the DaVinci Code, but I am thoroughly enjoying it...one of those thrilling "I can't put it down" type of books.

Well, as the title states I only have 2 weeks left in California, then it's back to Canada for the annual Mariposa Gala (A great show for a wonderful cause... I love doing it!!!), and of course for the end of summer Thornhill competition. I must say, though it's the first competition of the year, and still 4 weeks away, I had better push it into high gear... starting with a good nights sleep.

Cheers,
Jeff.

angels and demons is great (esp when a month later the pope really dies and you get to see it all play out...)

I recommend deception point, simply because Mr Langdon's 'swimmers physique' isn't referred to once! ;)

I'm so sorry you are having trouble

insomnia for a few years now. Hope
you get it under control soon.

Thanks for letting us read your thoughts, and I am going to look into reading the book you are currently reading, sounds excellent!

It's now July 26, do you know where your skating passion lies Jeff. Are you ready to skate with the emotion and joy of a Canadian Competitive Adult Skater? It's time to play with the audience and the ice. The judges don't matter until the skate is done and you can print out the COP sheet to see what counted. Actually it's now going to be called CPC in Canada. We skaters who compete in adult events only will get to see what CPC is like next April. No more will I get out jumped by 4 to 6 jump combinations. Real skating as you do Jeff, will prevail. Yeah!

Jeff, check out my first skating article at Skate Today. Sorry, you didn't compete at tht ISU Adult Competition, so you're not in the article.

I've read all of Dan Brown's book and they're amazing! The day that I read that the pope had died in the book, the pope died in real life. It was all a little surreal. I can't wait to see you in the Mariposa Gala!! I've come up from Halifax! You're my favorite skater and you're such a nice person! I met you before the Thursday night Stars on Ice in Halifax and you were so nice to me and my friend James! I wish you all the best this year and I will be following your skating! And I'm hoping to get tickets to Canadians to come watch you skate again!! :D

What's a blog? ... I thought I was signing up for an email account :P j/k

Random purging of thoughts onto paper late at night is very therapeutic. I don't know if it actually induces sleep or whether it's because of some placebo effect though. In anycase, if I can do math ... which I normally can't, 2 weeks since your last post means you should be returning to Ontario in the next few days. Maybe we'll chat at Summerskate.

PS: It's cool to see that you use normal words like "damned" and "ass" - don't see you say that on TV often! LOL
